At Papresa, we know that resources are finite and must adequately use them to help our planet. Climate change is a proven fact, and it is in our hands to make all the necessary actions to reverse it. It is everyone’s responsibility, including industry, to impose changes in our production models to remain profitable, but not at the expense of the planet. That is why at Papresa, we practice the circular economy.
What is the circular economy?
The circular economy is a model of production and consumption that involves sharing, renting, reusing, repairing, renewing and recycling existing materials and products as many times as possible to create added value. In this way, the life cycle of products is extended.
How do we apply this model?
Our business is based on the manufacture of newsprint and packaging paper from 100% recycled paper. All the raw material we use has been collected from the recycling containers in our country, which allows us to give a new life to these discarded products. In addition, we are planning the inclusion of a new phase that will enable us to optimally treat recovered paper within our plant and reduce rejects and waste.
In addition to working with recovered material, we have a strict Integrated Quality and Environmental Management System to continuously improve.
On the other hand, we have a new biological treatment plant, which allows us to obtain our energy. We get biogas from the degradation of organic matter through the anaerobic treatment of our discharge to the collector. This fuel is used in all our boilers. In this way, we obtain energy from our waste and reduce outgoing waste.
For us, it is of paramount importance to ensure that our activity does not compromise future generations. That is why part of our new strategic plan is focused on improving our infrastructure and working dynamics to enable us to implement the circular economy in all our production phases. Protecting our future is in our hands.
